Abstract

In most medical cases "the diagnostic orientation of a newborn with respiratory distress is established by jointly analyzing the anamnesis, physical examination, chest X-ray and laboratory tests". In many medical centers, the diagnosis of cardiorespiratory pathologies in neonates may take time when the specialist doctor is not physically at the medical center. This article analyzes the performance of a radio network over fiber (RoF), for the transmission of diagnostic images in cardiorespiratory pathologies of neonates, a service called remote diagnosis. To analyze the performance of the radio-over-fiber technology network, different data transmission rates are taken into account: 40Gbps, 200Gbps and 250Gbps, as well as different distances of the optical fiber. This with the aim of analyzing how these two variables influence the transmission of diagnostic images, for their future implementation in real time. The simulations are carried out in the OptiSystem software.

Keywords: Radio over Fiber; Telediagnosis; Neonates; Cardiorespiratory Pathologies; OptiSystem.
ER -
